The weekend is upon us, and we are all in the mood for a delicious little treat!
This gorgeous chocolate cake is the perfect weekend treat, but it's also flourless... which means it's better for you.
Check out this simple and wonderful recipe, you won't regret it!
What you'll need:
200g butter, softened
200g dark chocolate
200g caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
200g ground almonds
What you'll do:
Grease and line a 9 inch springform cake tin.
Preheat the oven to 170°C/325°F/Gas mark 3.
Melt butter and dark chocolate in a bowl suspended over a saucepan of hot water, stir to break up lumps.
Separate 4 of the eggs.
Mix 1 remaining whole egg and 4 egg yolks with sugar, whisk together.
Add vanilla extract and ground almonds.
In a spotlessly clean bowl whisk the egg whites until soft peaks form.
Fold the egg whites into the chocolate mix.
Transfer to prepared cake tin.
Bake for around 45 mins.
