Mothers all over the world are drawn together by a common bond, and that goes for our furry and four-legged friends, too.

The world is celebrating today, following the rare birth of a giant panda, in a Belgian zoo.

Seven-year-old giant panda Hao Hao gave birth to a 171-gram male cub in Pairi Daiza Wildlife Park, on Thursday, after being artificially inseminated back in February.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the zoo hailed the birth as ‘miraculous’, given how incredibly rare it is for giant pandas to be born into the world.

“Less than 2,000 pandas can be found in the wild, making every birth a true miracle,” read the statement.

The cub, who is as yet unnamed, is said to be doing well and is making headlines all around the world.
