Zooey Deschanels toddler daughter refuses to wear this item of clothing

Anyone who is a parent of a toddler knows that they can be fussy - when it comes to everything.

And A-List actor Zooey Deschanel isn't a stranger to this - especially when it comes to her three-year-old daughter, Elsie Otter.

The 39-year-old is mum to two kids - Elsie and son Charlie Wolff, who will celebrate his second birthday in May.

She opened up to PEOPLE about how headstrong Elsie is already - and it's relatable to any parent.

Zooey, who is married to Jacob Pechenik, said, ''She likes to put together outfits and she has very distinct opinions on what she will or will not wear.''

She continued, ''It’s very sweet to see her say, ‘I like this’ or ‘I don’t like that,’ and express herself in that way.”

However, there is one item of clothing that her little girl refuses to wear - jackets.

Zooey said, ''She doesn’t ever want to wear jackets. So that’s hard in the rain and when it gets cold. It’s been an unusually cold winter in L.A. and it’s been hard that she just will not wear a jacket. Or a sweater, she won’t wear a sweater even.''

When it comes to her son Charlie, she says that he's a little too young to be making such demands yet.

She said, ''He’s a little over 1½ so he’s not really picking his own clothes yet, but he’s very cute.''

Zooey might be a big star but to her tots, she's just ''mum.''

Zooey said, ''To them, I’m just Mom. “They don’t really watch TV, anyway. They don’t watch anything. It’s basically books and colouring books and toys and stuff.”

It just shows, no matter how famous you are - to your kids, mum is always mum.
