The rumour mill went into overdrive earlier this week, when Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were seen smiling as they emerged from a marriage counselling office.

While hopes of a reconciliation between the stars were raised after the photos went viral, a source has today spoken out to set the record straight.

An insider at People magazine shot down the rumours, saying: “There is no reconciliation. They are working with a professional because there are emotions involved and they want to make this transition as easy as possible for their family.”

The former couple, who have three young children together, were photographed leaving the Brentwood marriage counselling centre and getting into Affleck’s car, smiling for awaiting paparazzi.

While the couple were said to have initially planned to share their family home and co-parent their three children under one roof, Ben has reportedly already moved out.

“The damage is already done. They’re leading separate lives,” a source told entertainment website TMZ.

It has been a difficult few months for the Daredevil co-stars. After announcing their split in June, Ben was accused of having a fling with his kids’ former nanny, Christie Ouzounian.
