Last year was undoubtedly a dramatic one for him, with as many crushing lows as dizzying highs, and this singer has opened up about how he got through such a difficult time.

Following his shock split from wife Paula Patton, singer Robin Thicke has revealed that it was their son Julian, 5, who helped him to ‘get himself back together’.

The Blurred Lines singer told Good Morning America: “I started song-writing and producing and singing professionally when I was 16, and I never really stopped until last year. I took some time off to just be with my son and my family. It helps you gain perspective on what’s important in life.”

He added: “I hadn’t gotten to take my mum on vacation for a long time, so it was a really magical trip. I spent so much time with my son and that just made me realise what was most important.”

Thicke and Patton, who were together since the age of 16, shocked everyone last year when they announced their split, with the pair going on to finalise their divorce this past March.

This year also marked the end of Thicke’s high-profile Blurred Lines lawsuit, in which he and singer Pharrell Williams were ordered to pay $7.3 million for ‘ripping off’ Marvin Gaye’s Got To Give It Up.
