She has found herself at the centre of a lot of unwanted attention over the past few weeks, and it was a very serious matter that brought this star back into the public eye yesterday.

Actress and comedienne Rosie O’Donnell has thanked people for their help, after her 17-year-old daughter Chelsea was safely located last night, having been missing for a week.

Rosie issued a statement regarding Chelsea’s disappearance via her website, which read: “Rosie O’Donnell’s 17 year old daughter, Chelsea O’Donnell was reported missing. Nyack, New York police authorities have been looking for her in the Rockland County area since Sunday, August 16. She was last seen Tuesday, August 11.”

She went on to reveal that Chelsea, who is believed to suffer from a mental illness, had left home with her six-month-old therapy dog Bear and had stopped taking her medication.

Police turned up to a residence in the Jersey Shore area and refused to leave until Chelsea’s presence was revealed. Eventually, Chelsea did appear and left without incident, according to the Associated Press.

Rosie later took to Twitter to confirm that her daughter was safe and well, writing: “Chelsea has been found and is safe in police custody – thank you all for the help and light.”

The circumstances of Chelsea’s disappearance are not yet known.

Rosie adopted Chelsea with her ex-wife, Kelli Carpenter. The couple found themselves making headlines back in March however, when a woman claiming to be Chelsea’s biological mother told the National Enquirer that her husband had forced her to give their daughter up for adoption.

The woman, Deanna Micoley, also claimed that Chelsea was “unhappy” living with O’Donnell.
