While we like to think our children will remain little forever, they will eventually grow up and of course, enter those dreaded tween years. Here are just a few signs that your child may be already turning into a tween:

They’ve started using deodorant
Whether they need to or not, your tween is going to important efforts to look after their hygiene.

Different sense of humour
The jokes your tween may have liked as a child no longer amuse them and just seem to embarrass them instead.

Bathroom shelf change
What was once filled with your bathroom products has now changed to what looks like an aisle in a pharmacy.

Home alone
They’ve become rather insistent that they want to stay at home alone and due to their age and some maturity in their recent behaviour, you’re seriously considering it.

Mobile phone
What may have seemed like an extravagant purchase for your child before, has now become a necessity for your tween.

They’ve developed an attitude
While your child may have always had some form of a cheeky attitude, it has somehow gradually worsened once they hit ten. They’ve somehow perfected the eye roll and developed an attitude, which will unfortunately only worsen once they get older.

Privacy
Entering your child’s room was never seen as a big deal before but now, your tween will go to extreme lengths to ensure you don’t invade their privacy. No excuse is valid enough, even if they have a pile of ever growing dirty clothes in their room.

Sound block
No your child hasn’t suddenly gone deaf, but somehow has perfected the talent of blocking out anything you say. It probably doesn’t help that they’re constantly blaring music through their earphones either.

Do their own clothes shopping
While your child couldn’t care less about what they used to wear, it doesn’t seem to be the case for your tween. You’re no longer allowed to buy any clothes for them, instead you will probably be asked to hand them over money and let them make the choice instead.

Crushes
While the idea of love and crushes totally had no effect on your tot before, it’s a different scenario for your tween. They’ve probably developed a surprising crush on their peers or some celebrity idol has suddenly become plastered all over their bedroom walls.
