Can you believe back to school time is just around the corner? And whether your little one is back the end of next week or the beginning of the following week, there are plenty of things you can do this weekend in order to avoid the panic to get things done.

We’ve compiled a list of the important things you need to do this Saturday and Sunday for back to school time:

1. Wash the uniform

Check your little one’s uniform for any rips or tears and give it a good wash in the machine.

2. Check sizes

Get your little one to try on their uniform this weekend, just in case they have grown a lot over the summer. The last thing you want is to wake in the morning only to discover your kid’s trousers are too short or their blouse won’t close.

3. Cover their books

If you plan on covering your little one’s books with paper or plastic set aside some space this weekend to do it. It can be extremely time consuming and you don’t want to rush it.

4. Check their school bag

Even if you hadn’t planned on getting your little one a new bag, do check last year’s for any mould, dirt or stains and pop it in the washing machine to give it a good spruce up.

5. Pick up new socks

If you have the money, pick up new socks for your little one – there is nothing quite as nice as putting on fresh, new socks on the first day of school.

6. Get their hair cut

If you are planning on tidying your little’s one hair before they head back, try to organise it for this weekend if you can’t do it during the week. The hairdressers will get busier and busier the closer you get to the big day.

7. Stock up on stationary

Don't leave picking up pens and pencils until the last minute, make sure you get them now so your little one doesn't have to go to school without them.

8. Get them to bed early

You may as well get into the habit of putting your little ones to bed early this weekend - they'll thank you for it come next week.

9. Clean the study area

Make sure they get off on the right foot from the very start by giving the study a proper clean out.

10. Mark the holidays in the calendar

It won't be long until the midterm.
