Sleepless nights are part and parcel with having a baby in the house but that doesn’t make them any easier. And being the only one up at this ungodly hour, apart from your youngster of course, you will come to realise things that only a person fighting sleep will notice.
Late night TV is awful
Having the TV on a low volume is a great way to keep yourself awake, but you definitely won’t be able to miss the fact that there is an awful lot of really bad TV shows.
You have the will power not to buy off an infomercial
You might have been tempted on more than one occasion, but you have more will power than you thought yourself capable of.
The fridge makes a really loud noise
It’s not something you really notice during the day, but at night, when the only sound is your baby feeding, you’ll realise that it can make one hell of a racket.
Pyjamas are not the warmest of outfits

The paint is peeling
If you aren’t reading or quietly watching the TV, you are going to start looking around the room and it’s then that you will start to take mental notes about what part of the room need a lick of paint.
Foxes sound like babies crying
There seem to be more and more foxes wandering around the streets these days and it’s hard to miss their baby-like cry when it’s the only sound you can hear.
You are definitely not the only one up
Whether it’s a neighbour arriving home after a night out, or even a late shift, or people getting up and going to work, you definitely won’t be the only one awake in your street at this time.
That you are still scared of your own shadow
The dark can be a scary place and while it is usually only your mind playing tricks on you, certain shadows can cause your heart to flutter in fear.
You can read in very little light
Ok, we definitely wouldn’t recommend it as it’s not very good for your eyes, but we have all been guilty of reading in little light – anything not to wake the baby.
Your bed is one of the best places to be
Having to get out of it in the dark of night makes you appreciate just how amazing your bed is...
