There comes a time when we start to get bored of our regimented gym routine.

Whether the time of day you choose to work out has become a factor or specific exercises are starting to grate on you, it's important you spice up tired routines whenever you can.

If you find yourself flagging in the middle of a session or see yourself cutting a routine short simply because you can no longer motivate yourself, then you are in desperate need of a shake-up!

Why not check out our five top tips to keep you on track?

1. Join a class

If you can no longer motivate yourself to complete the circuit a trainer designed for you, then you may benefit from a group situation.

Not only are classes fun, but there's very little opportunity to slack off when you have a trainer issuing instructions every few minutes.

Incorporating a class into your exercise routine is a surefire way to jazz it up!

2. Splash out

As we all know, a new ensemble can really put a pep in your step, and gym attire is no different!

Why not ditch the threadbare leggings and treat yourself to a couple of new gym ensembles?

Having a shiny new gym outfit to step into will raise your motivation levels.

3. Identify the issues

Do you find yourself enjoying your cardio session as much as ever, but immediately start to flag when you pick up a weight?

In this case, it's important to recognise these moments and approach a trainer with the issue.

You are not obligated to stick to the same routine, so be sure to switch them up with the help of an instructor.

4. Create a playlist

It sounds like a lacklustre response to the issue, but there's a lot to be said for the power of new music.

If your gym playlist hasn't been tinkered with in a few months then it's high-time you looked at it!

And if music isn't your thing, then why not listen to an audio book while you work out?

5. Set a new goal

If you've been working towards the same goal for months, then it might be time to establish a new one.

Long term goals are wonderful, but short term goals are incredible for keeping you motivated.

It's hard to give it your all when your final goal isn't until Christmas, but when it's two weeks from Saturday, you may find yourself lifting those weights with renewed vigour!
