Here are six fun ways for teens to stave off boredom during the long summer months ahead:

Camps
When it comes to summer camps, it's best that parents do their own research on what’s most suitable for their teen. While it’s a great idea to talk to other parents about certain summer camps, parents should also make sure that their teen gets to decide on where they would like to go. Because at the end of day, they’re the ones who are going to be spending their summer in these camps, not their parents.

Sleeping
While teens should definitely not be spending all day in bed, sometimes it’s ok to allow teens to have a much earned summer rest. Secondary school can be quite stressful and that’s not forgetting that teenagers are constantly growing, so it’s important that teens do get as much sleep as possible. Of course, parents still need to take into account that some lie-ins are ok, but they shouldn’t let their teens waste their summer in bed either.

Travel
Most teens probably feel ready to take that first all-important trip of their own. Whether it’s visiting relatives, holidaying with friends or even holidaying with their own family, travelling can be a great milestone for any teen. But it’s important to remember, even if they think they are able for this first trip, they are still children. Before letting them go off on their own big adventure, it's best to make sure that everything is planned from the get go, not only for your teen’s own safety but to help parents sleep easy as well.

Chores
Teens won’t get excited about this suggestion but chores are a brilliant way of passing the time and can make life at home a little easier for parents.

Internships
Many teens are unsure about their future and an internship can be a great first step in figuring out what career they might actually like.

But most importantly it’s always a good idea to remind teenagers that these long summers will not last forever, so they should definitely make the most of it while they can.
