It's not every day you can say you helped deliver a baby by the side of the road, but that's exactly what happened to two police officers in London when they were flagged down by a motorist on Kenton Road in Harrow yesterday afternoon.

On patrol duty, the two male officers went to the assistance of a van driver who desperately required help explaining that his passenger had gone into labour.

Safely delivering a baby boy who has since been named Alex, the officers made contact with the London Ambulance Service who swiftly transferred baby Alex along with his mum and dad to a north-west London hospital.

Taking to Twitter to share the good news with the public, Harrow Police uploaded an adorable shot of baby Alex sleeping in the van he made his grand entrance while wrapped in a Metropolitan Police fleece

Updating the public on that morning's exciting news, they wrote; "A special Easter delivery, delivered by officers from Harrow Police on Kenton Road this morning, Named Alex."

The post has, unsurprisingly, been inundated with warm wished, with one Twitter uaer writing: "Great job, officers. Definitely not the usual patrol day! Hopefully mom and baby are doing well."

Congratulations to all involved and a massive well done to Mum!
