She welcomed her little one into the world in August of last year, and this week this actress and mother-of-one has spoken candidly about her ‘battle’ while giving birth to her daughter.

Stacy Keibler, who welcomed daughter Ava Grace with husband Jared Pobre, opened up about her decision to opt for a drug-free home birth, and what the experience was like for her.

In an interview with Ricki Lake for The Business of Being Born, the 35-year-old said: “I felt like we went to war together. I kept saying, ‘Ava’s a warrior. I’m a warrior.’ It was one of my mantras that I would say. Then when she came out, I feel like we had this bond that we had just fought together.”

Stacy’s decision was tested when her baby was overdue, but she opted not to be induced. In the end, her labour lasted 19 hours, and she admitted that “for 12 of those hours my water hadn’t even broken yet”.

At this point, you’re probably wondering the same thing as us – how did she cope with the pain of child birth? This, Stacy said, she combatted by repeating such mantas as mentioned above, and visualising herself with her baby in her arms.

The star went on to insist that she wouldn’t change a thing about her birth, saying that it prepared her for motherhood.

“I had my weakest and strongest moments. I’ll have those again being a mother,” she said.
