Just because school is out, doesn’t mean kids will stop learning. In fact, they will learn an awful lot of things from you, things that you never even thought of.

How they look at the world
How you look at the world, whether it be positive or negative, can hugely influence your child’s view. A positive attitude will help your son or daughter to build confidence so avoid complaining about the not-so-good things in life and celebrate the great things.

The importance of hard work
Passing on your work to others or trying to get things done as quickly as possible by skipping corners will only teach your child how to get out of work rather than embrace it. Hard work teaches independence, discipline and most importantly a sense of achievement.

To dream big
If you dream of visiting a certain country, buying a certain car or simply to get a bigger and better job, share these with your child. Whether or not you will be able to fulfil your dreams is irrelevant, it’s the fact that you are aiming for something higher that will teach your child to aim big.

To be grateful
Count your blessings everyday and be grateful for what you have. This will teach your youngster about being thankful and to gain a sense of gratitude that will make the world a much more enjoyable place.

Good manners
Good manners don’t grow on trees and if you don’t say thank you don’t expect your little one to say it either. Make sure you say please and thank you at home and when out of the house. Make a point of using your manners in front of and to your child to make sure it becomes a habit.

To not be afraid
Give your child courage by sharing your fears and showing your little one how to overcome them. Although it is important to remember that courage is not just about getting over phobias, it is also about having the courage to go after something or to achieve something that you so desperately want.

To be happy in themselves
Being happy within yourself is the key to confidence. Avoid putting yourself down or saying negative things to yourself. Teaching your child to be happy about themselves will help them to build up an unbreakable self confidence.
