Chris Bisson isn’t the only one celebrating happy baby news today – and it seems he wasn’t wrong about that Emmerdale baby boom!

Ex-Emmerdale star Emily Symons, who currently plays Marilyn Chambers on long-running Aussie soap, Home and Away, has given birth to a baby boy – a child she previous dubbed her “miracle baby”.

A statement released by her agent confirmed mum and baby are both in tip-top shape.

“Emily Symons and Paul Jackson welcomed a beautiful little boy into the world. Mother and baby are both doing well.”

Every birth is special, but this one is extra sweet as Emily has spoken in the past about her fertility issues and struggle to conceive. Admitting she never thought she would become a mum, she said: "I'd given up really. I thought I had tried every avenue that was available to us. My advice is to not give up if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole process."

The actress, who also played Louise Appleton on Emmerdale for seven years, confessed that her longing to become a mother consumed her at some points, saying: "I spent a lot of my thirties being so anguished about not having a baby. There's a longing and biological need to have a baby that I don't think men have."

But thankfully Emily and husband Paul Jackson were able to announce their pregnancy back in February and in a very open interview with New Idea magazine, the 45-year-old actress talked about the joy they were both experiencing.

“I cry through all the scans, every time I hear that heartbeat, but they’re obviously tears of happiness. I just can’t believe it!”

The couple were left disappointed after many failed IVF attempts, and Emily previously revealed that the batch of eggs collected in her first IVF attempt weren’t fit to be used.

Commenting on the complications that she, like so many other mums, have faced, Emily said: “We had to kiss a lot of frogs before we got this one!”

We’re looking forward to hearing the name they’ve chosen, but right now we’re just really happy for the couple and wish them and their newborn all the luck in the world.
