If there was an award for most supportive teacher it would definitely go to this member of staff at Bowen State School.

Starting a new school term can be a little daunting for students, so to help put their minds at ease this teacher decided to give each child a little goody bag containing essentials like rubbers, stickers and bookmarks.

But they were not just random items; accompanying the gift was a sweet poem which gave an explanation for what each represented.

"The eraser is to remind you that it is ok to make mistakes," the poem which was posted to the school's Facebook page reads.

"We'll work and learn together, no matter what it takes.

"The stickers mean we'll stick together and work hard as a team.

"The puzzle shows how we fit together, working towards a common theme."

Not surprisingly, the post received huge support, with many praising the teacher's welcome pack.

"More schools should use this," wrote one, while another said: "Very clever and meaningful. Love it!"

"Absolutely amazing! To make every child feel secure and welcome is the most important part of schooling. I will use this with my class. The children are very lucky to be a part of your wonderful school."
