A big-hearted bus driver couldn’t sit by without doing anything when he noticed children on his bus route were cold.

Joe Lunceford is a granddad. He has been driving buses for Kennewick School District in Washington in the US for the last three years, but recently, he went above and beyond when he saw a little boy crying from the cold one morning. The weather was freezing, and he had no hat or gloves to keep him warm.

Immediately Joe gave him his own gloves and comforted him – and soon after, the experience gave him an idea. After his shift he headed to a dollar store and bought ten sets of hats and gloves.

He then went back to the school and with the help of an administrator, tracked the boy down and gave him a cosy set.

“I’m a grandfather, you know,” he said. “No one wants a kid to suffer like that.”

According to the Kennewick School District, this little boy won’t be the last student Joe helps.

“He told all the students in the school’s library that if they were on his route and didn’t have hats or gloves, he’d take care of them,” posted the Kennewick School District proudly on Facebook.

“There was a little girl who said ‘I don’t have a hat,’ and I said I’ll take care of you, sweetie,” Joe says.

That’s the true meaning of community spirit right there. Joe is an absolute credit to his locality.
