We already know that men are from Mars and women are from Venus. But, what we don’t know that this is even true when men and women are asleep.

A new study found that even when sleeping, a female’s troubles differ to that of a man.

The study found that men are more inclined to dream about fires, floods and other worldly disasters, while women dream of lies and infidelity.

Canadian researchers asked over 300 men and women to write down the content of their dreams every morning for up to five weeks.

They found that the diary entries for women much longer in cases where they had a nightmare. Many dreamed of physical aggression such as kidnappings and murder.

The men however were twice as likely to dream about natural disasters and insects.

The study's authors, from the University of Montreal, said: “Dreams of interpersonal conflicts may elicit a more intense emotional response thin women, leading to a greater proportion of such dreams ending in a nightmare awakening.”

This could explain why putting the cap back on the toothpaste is more important to women than it is to men, we are just so different.
