Research reveals that several women own a pair of skinny jeans in hope that they will lose weight.

The study conducted by StyleClub, a fashion and lifestyle club questioned 1,000 women and found 87% wear jeans at least once a week.

The study revealed that more than half keep a pair of skinny jeans in the closet that they don’t fit into, in the hope they will soon lose enough weight to wear them, while four in 10 women squeeze into jeans that are too tight because they don’t want to admit they need a bigger size.

According to StyleClub, 58% find it hard to get a decent pair of jeans that fit and flatter. However, this has not stopped the vast majority of women from owning a pair.

The average woman owns at least one pair of jeans that is up to five years old while 21% have at least one pair that is more than 10 years old.

Paraag Amin, founder and CEO of StyleCard said: “Jeans have been a staple of every woman’s wardrobe for more than 50 years.”
