When Jaron Johnson was out shopping with his mum in Walmart recently, he found a $100 note in the parking lot.

However, rather than simply pocket the cash, Jaron did something so much better: he told his mum that he wanted to return it to the owner.

Yes, this eight-year-old boy did something we're not sure all kids his age would do.

A $100 is a lot of money to a young child, and we're sure there are plenty of things he would like to have bought with it.

But he didn't - he wanted to return it to its rightful owner.

Talking to Inside Edition, the young boy's mum Jodie explained what happened.

"He was a few steps behind me and said, ‘Mom, look what I have in my pocket,’ and he said, ‘Can we turn it in to Walmart and give it to the rightful owner?’"

Jodie knew, however, that if they were to drop the money into the store it might not make it into the hands of its owner.

So she decided that the best thing to do was to leave her number with the clerk at Walmart, and they could phone if anyone reported anything missing. She never told them it was a $100 note.

Thankfully, the following day, James Grice's daughter called Jodie, and explained that her father lost some money while shopping.

Her 86-year-old father is on a fixed income and had been unable to pay for his groceries after he lost the money.

Not surprisingly, both were thrilled when Jodie revealed Jaron had found the money.

A couple of days later, the money was returned to its rightful owner and to thank the young boy, James gave him $20 and unlimited fresh tomatoes from his garden!
