The power of social media is alive and well this week, and one of the most inspiring stories comes all the way from the Victoria Fire Authority, in Australia.

Mum and firefighter Angela Joy has been branded a ‘superhero’ for posing for a powerful photo while breastfeeding her baby, dressed in full fire-fighting uniform.

The photo was shared by the Victorian County Fire Authority, for which Angela volunteers, and it has prompted praise for the mother’s dedication to her community on every level.

“Just to clarify, this photo of Angela – a proud mum and CFA volunteer – was taken at a community event. No fires nearby, and a safe environment for her child,” the Facebook administrator added.

Sadly the photo has split opinion, with some followers apparently ‘unliking the page’ in protest, but the majority of Facebook users commenting are full of praise for Angela.

“Raising a newborn and also volunteering for fire-fighters…what an amazing person. Well done. You are a role model,” wrote one follower.

Another chimed in: “Angela, you legend – protecting the lives of other families while raising your own. My husband is a fire-fighter, and I know how time-consuming and strenuous it can be. You…are a super mum!”

This is truly one of the most inspiring images we have seen. Well done to Angela, and all those men and women making a positive difference in their communities.
