There are doubtless many points on which we differ from other parents - when we think our kids should have mobile phones, what TV programmes we let them watch, the list goes on and on.

New mum Chelsee Healey's latest Insta post brought up yet another one of these contentious topics in parenting: whether or not to pierce your baby's ears.

The Hollyoaks star shared a simple video of her daughter on Instagram the other day, with the little tot enjoying her dummy and sporting earrings.

While Chelsee's past Instagram posts indicate her baby girl Coco has had her ears pierced since late January, her followers only seemed to take great notice of the new accessories now.

Coco turned seven months on February 13, and some of the 29-year-old mum's Insta followers thought that this was too young for a child to have their ears pierced.

I literally will never get over how beautiful she is

"So sad you got her ears pierced," lamented one person, "Pain for vanity at such a young age."

"No thanks... piercing a baby is disgusting and I can express that if I wish," another commented.

"A baby is a little human that feels pain like everyone else. That looks to you for protection. And you stick a needle in her ear! Did she ask for it? No!" an Instagram user wrote.

However, many fans of the actress' fans came to her defence, sharing their own stories as well.

"Knew people would be hating on her ear piercings," a follower said, "I got both my girls' piercings done at 4 months old. Our babies, our choice."

"Coco is so beautiful Chelsee and I love her little earrings. People really need to keep their horrible opinions to themselves," someone else shared.

" So much better to get their ears done younger. They forget about it within minutes. Can't wait to get my baby's done next month," one person commented.

What's your opinion on having babies' ears pierced, mums?
