Astigmatism in one eye that is left untreated can lead to amblyopia (lazy eye). If there is blurring or poor vision in one eye, the brain will begin to favour the other eye. This can result in the development of amblyopia which undiagnosed can result in vision in the affected eye being underdeveloped. It can lead to permanent vision problems and poor depth perception. If you notice any misalignment or signs of crossed eyes then you should contact your ophthalmologist or optometrist immediately.
