Fortunately, there are few complications which arise from myopia.
In very rare circumstances severe cases of myopia can lead to the following:
Retinal detachment; where the inner layer of the eye detaches from the retina.
Glaucoma; some cases of myopia can lead to increased fluid pressure which in later life could lead to glaucoma.
Cataracts; higher chance of developing cataracts
Macular degeneration; this occurs when the retina degenerates and results in reduced vision.
