All kids love a good glow-in-the-dark craft, and this is a simple project that will not only keep the kids entertained but will also get them excited about science.

What you will need:

  • Milk
  • Fluorescent paint
  • Liquid soap
  • Toothpicks
  • Black light

What to do:

  1. Fill a container with milk – just enough to cover the bottom.
  2. Take your fluorescent paint (available from all good arts and crafts shops) and squirt the paint around the edge or perimeter of the container.
  3. Take a toothpick and touch the middle of the milk surface. You should see the colours jump away from the centre of the milk.
  4. Add some more colours to the milk and watch them ‘dance’ at the slightest movement of the toothpick. The kids will love watching the reaction between the paint and the milk, and you can get as messy as you like by adding even more colours.

Tip: You can alternatively carry out this craft using food colouring.
