When Kaylieann Steinbach refused to wear any of the three outfits her dad, Austin, had laid out for her for Picture Day, he wasn't really that surprised.

And so he let her decide what she wanted to wear herself.

However, instead of opting for a dress or a comfy pair of trousers, the three-year-old actually decided to go for something really different. And we are delighted she did.

The family from California have always encouraged their daughter to be independent, and didn't think twice when she reached for her SUPERGIRL costume.

Austin posted the adorable picture to Reddit, and the little girl looks delighted in her outfit as she clutches her very own Superman doll.

According to her dad, Kaylieann is 75 percent deaf in both ears, and the photo received a positive response from the deaf community

"We just got the news from her audiologist 5 months ago and are learning ASL now and love it,"  he wrote on Reddit.

"She's learning so much faster than us though!

"I love how much her learning sign has opened up her expressiveness and vocabulary it's so heart warming to see her grow and become herself.

"We've started attending deaf groups and get together once a month, and it's helping her confidence in signing tenfold ."

My daughter got to pick what she wore for her school pictures. Daddy approves from aww

We LOVE this photo so much.
