Finding a balance between work life and home life can be extremely tough on a parent. With that in mind, here are five things you should pay close attention to.

1. Dividing your time
As a working mother, you face the daily struggle of being pulled in all directions. After putting down a hard day’s work, sometimes dividing your time and attention between children, partners and yourself can prove tricky. Try to work out a system where you can enjoy some quality time to yourself as well as your family.

2. Taking your work home with you
This can generally be a big no-no, but blurring the lines between work and home is especially tough on a working mother. That careful balance you have strived so hard to achieve at home is completely thrown out the minute you bring your work home with you, so be mindful to set those boundaries.

3. Making it to the big moments
Juggling your job with collections and homework is a struggle in itself, but adding school shows and appointments into the mix makes your role as an employee and a mother that little bit more stressful. However, when you and your child can both cherish the memories of that first nativity play or school concert, it will be totally worth it.

4. Monitoring your kids’ online activity
With so many social media channels and devices around these days, our little ones are turning into a tech-savvy generation from a very young age. While we can’t be around to monitor every single click of a mouse – especially when we are catching up on home life after a hard day at the office – it’s important to keep as close an eye as possible on their online activity.

5. Making time for yourself
Last but certainly not least, it’s important to ensure that you are taking some time out to rest and recharge each day. Between working and running a household, scheduling in some ‘me time’ can prove tricky, but is absolutely vital to maintain your health and sanity!
