One special boy in Arizona has been named an ‘honorary firefighter’.

Salvatore Cicalese received a firefighter certificate, a patch, a shirt and helmet for his escapades from the local fire department.

The five-year-old was awarded the title for his bravery when he saved his mother from a near-death experience.

Sal, as he is widely known, was in bed when he heard his mum fall in the shower.

When he checked on her, she wasn’t moving.

The intuitive little kid then took his two-month-old sister, wrapped her in a blanket, and made his way to the neighbour’s house.

Salvatore was shocked by the incident; he told his neighbour, Jessica, that his mum had died and asked would she take care of them.

Thanks to Salvatore’s actions, Jessica phoned 911 and went to check on his mum, who was unconscious with the water still running.

His mum was rushed to hospital where it was confirmed she suffered a seizure.

Salvatore’s mum Kaitlyn told ABC15, if it wasn’t for the bravery of her son she could have died.

“Honestly he saved my life. I was under the faucet. If he wouldn't have gotten help, I would have drowned.”

Just watch the excitement on the little guy’s face when he’s in that fire truck.

We think he’ll make an awesome firefighter some day.
