Prepare to bawl!

Batman and Spiderman might be considered superheroes in movies, but when you hear who the people our kids are in awe of in real life you'll feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

That's because, according to a recent survey, children's real-life superheroes are in fact their mum and dad!

The research asked 1,000 four to six-year-olds in the UK to pick a hero in real life, and HALF chose their mum!

Dad followed closely with 44 percent and grandmothers came in third at 8 percent.

So what is it about us parents that make our kids think we're superheroes?

Well, according to the study which was commission by Superzings - Rivals of Kaboom, children think that being able to talk to Santa or the Tooth Fairy are super powers.

30 percent also said that their parent being able to hear a whispering child is also a super power.

However, it's not just us that our little ones are in awe of.

More than half of those surveyed said that firefighters have a superhero job; 45 percent said police officers and 43 percent said doctors.

“Given the daily heroics of our emergency services, it’s fitting that children see them as real-life heroes," Ben Harper, director of Magic Box Toys, said according the HuffPost

“It’s a particular thrill to see how highly mums, dads and teachers are regarded by their children too.”
