These two little girls had the experience of a lifetime when their parents decided to take them out of school and on a 16-month tour of Europe.

Eight-year-old Libby and 11-year-old Lottie stepped out of the classroom and into a camper-van when their parents, Richard and Catherine Thorley, decided it was just the life experience they needed.

The girls have since been to 26 countries and travelled 40,000 miles in their family camper-van.

But their schooling has not been neglected. Both Richard and Catherine are teachers themselves and say they spend three mornings a week teaching their daughters.

“We decided to pick a country and see how broad we could make the learning experience for our girls,” the parents wrote on their travel blog.

“Understanding the culture of other countries has certainly broadened our girls' horizons.”

The European trip has also helped Libby and Lottie learn five different languages including French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.

After five years spent saving, Richard and Catherine were finally able to set off on the trip of their dreams, and they say it was the best decision ever.
