April Fools’ Day is all about having a little bit of fun and no doubt your little one has something up their sleeve. However, before they get a chance to play a few tricks on you, why not beat them at their own game.

Put toilet paper in their shoes
To really make this one work, as soon as your child gets out of bed comment on how tall they have grown overnight.

Swop the cereal for porridge
Empty the box of cereal and replace it with porridge or something similar – watch your child’s reaction when something other than cereal starts coming out of the box.

Freeze their breakfast
Pour a little milk and cereal into your child’s breakfast bowl and place it in the freezer overnight. In the morning, take it out and pour a little more milk on top and watch your child as they try to get the spoon out of the bowl.

Cover the remote control sensor with clear tape
If your youngster is prone to switching the TV on in the morning they will be really surprised when the remote doesn’t work.

Set their clock one hour ahead
If your little one has a clock in their room set it one hour ahead so they get up extra early. They will be surprised and probably annoyed, but at least you won’t be running late.

Switch your kids in bed
If you have more than one child you can really confuse them by switching them in their beds. Make sure they are sound asleep before you do this otherwise it won’t work.

Fill their bedroom with balloons
Surprise your kiddie by filling their room with balloons and watch their reaction when they get up.

Line their teddies up
Put all their teddies on the couch in the front room and tell your little one they must have got up in the middle of the night to watch telly.

Before you start, make sure you consider the age of your child and how much time you have in the morning; you don’t want to end up shouting because your prank is causing you to be late.
