Healthy activities to engage your kids in during the holidays.
Being out of school can sometimes be a bummer for both kids and parents. You will need to keep the kids engaged with various activities.

Nevertheless, you must ensure that they are fit for the mental and physical health of the kids. Parents can also strengthen their bond with their kids through these activities. Continue scrolling to discover more.

Go for Neighborhood Strolls
Research shows that kids above six years require about one hour of physical activity daily. However, most children do not get this at home, and it's even more challenging for those who lack PE at school. Strolling should be a daily activity if your schedule can allow it. Besides, you don’t have to look for a specific place like a field to do it. Strolling does not necessarily mean that you must take exactly one hour. You can use the few minutes that your schedule allows as you continue creating more time.

Ride Bikes
Riding bikes is a tried and authentic way of keeping your kids healthy and active. I recommend cycling in the evening when the sun is setting. This way, you will evade the hot sun, thus allowing you to cycle even longer. Also, when riding with kids, it's recommended that you choose a location that is safe away from traffic. As you purchase bikes for your kids, remember that different kids will require different bikes according to their age. For instance, if your children are between 7-11 years, you can get them 18-inch bikes, especially if they enjoy adventuring. Parents can alternate bike rides with daily walks to avoid monotony.

Cook Together
Since healthy activities are not limited to practices that keep your children moving, you can also engage them in activities that engage their hands or mind. Also, you don’t want your kids to grow up without learning how to prepare themselves a meal. Cooking together can encourage better nutrition and other skills like measuring, counting, and reading. Your kids can also enhance their ability to follow instructions such as cooking recipes and keeping time. Cooking together will also strengthen your family bond.

Plant a Garden
Do not limit your kids from carrying out activities that are healthy but involve dirt. Try growing and nurturing something together with your kids, even if it involves just potted plants. If you have a small garden, let your children join you in various activities which keep them in the fresh air. Garden activities like planting and digging are also a form of exercise.

Dance Breaks
Many kids enjoy listening to songs and dancing. When your kids take study breaks, you can help them relax by putting on their favorite songs and showing them some dance moves. Similarly, consider composing a playlist for your family's favorite songs, which you can even listen to as you travel.

Water Wars
Water activities are an excellent way of spending time with your kids during summer. Apart from swimming, you can also engage in other activities like water wars. Water wars involve playing with hose pipes, filling up water balloons, and water pistols. Thus, you can run around chasing one another with pistols and balloons.

Ensure you remain cautious when undertaking some of these activities like cooking, as kids can get hurt easily.
