For a while there, we heard lots of talk about 'designer babies.'
And for most of us, that seemed a bit unrealistic, or at the very least, something we wouldn't have to worry about in our lifetimes.
But one expert has claimed that baby-making could be completely different, in just 20-40 years time!
Professor of Law and Genetics at Stanford University, Henry Greely, has written a book entitled 'The End of Sex and the Future of Human Reproduction.'
In the book, Henry claims that the world already had the technology to change the system of reproduction.
Rather that using the traditional way to make babies, couples who want a child can simple go to a lab.
But it's not just to create a baby, but to design babies for anyone who wants to be a parent.
"When a couple wants a baby, he'll provide sperm and she'll provide a punch of skin," Henry told The Times.
Scientists or the designer of the babies will then be able to make 100 different embryos.
Scientists will then explain to the parents about the conditions each embryo is likely to have, if any.
"These five have really serious disease, you don't want them," he said, referring to a hypothetical situation.
"Of the other 95%, they will be given the pluses and minuses."
Once the parents have chosen which embryo they'd like best, said embryo will then be implanted in the woman.
He also said that, with this technology, parents in the future will have the freedom to customise their kids.
He said the embryos will be put into categories to help parents decide.
"One category will be very severe, untreatable, nasty diseases," he said. This category will affect 1-2% of embryos.
Another category will be other diseases, he claimed, while the third category will be cosmetic (e.g. the colour of the hair and eyes, and the face shape).
The final category - related to behaviour - will be more limited, however, according to Henry's predictions.
