She gave birth to her first child back in July, and she has kept us waiting to find out the little one’s name ever since – but finally, this week, this actress has made the big reveal.
New Girl star Zooey Deschanel shared her daughter’s name with the world last night – it’s Elsie Otter.
While ‘Otter’ is just about quirky enough for the Zooey that we know and love, the star follows in the footsteps of Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan with her tot’s more traditional first name.
Appearing on the red carpet for the New York premiere of new movie Rock the Kasbah, the 35-year-old told reporters: “It’s Elsie Otter. Like the animal…Sea otter.”
Zooey welcomed little Elsie back in July with her now husband Jacob Pechenik. The pair wed in secret during the summer and went on to confirm their nuptials and the birth of their daughter in August.
The star has stayed pretty tight-lipped on the subject of her daughter, but she broke protocol earlier this week in the name of entertainment.
Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Zooey performed a tongue-in-cheek skit about the ‘horrors’ we are forced to endure as adults and parents.
