Often people like to mix and match products they already own to come up with a concoction they like. This can also be the case with tinted moisturiser.
Follow these steps to learn how to make and apply your own tinted moisturiser.

What you need
  • Your own moisturiser
  • Your foundation, both liquid and powder work

What to do

  1. Put a small amount of moisturiser in the palm of your hand, just enough for your face and neck. Use one that you like already and compliments your skin tone, moisturises well and is kind to your skin
  2. Add some of your foundation (one that matches your skin tone well). Use it sparingly; apply less than you would if you were looking to get full coverage out of your foundation. The goal here is to even out skin tone and moisturise skin rather than to conceal imperfections.
  3. Mix the moisturiser and foundation together in your palm. Make sure the two are mixed really well, if not you’ll get streaks. Ensure your fingers are clean and use them to mix with. The warmth of your hands will help to melt both products and encourage them to blend well.
  4. Apply to your face (and down the jaw line onto the neck to avoid a line of demarcation) and there you go! Your skin will be moisturised and have a nice even tone

Some more tips

  • Using foundation or lotion has an SPF in it is another great idea
  • Using a non –greasy, gel moisturiser is great for this because it sinks into skin well
  • A powder foundation is also good for making your own tinted moisturiser as it mixes with the moisturiser without becoming too runny. It is also a pigment and not a liquid so mixes well with the emollient
