When Ferne McCann appeared on Lorraine this morning, it was clear that she was ready to talk about being a new mum - but not about her child's father, ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins.

Arthur was found guilty last month of five counts of grievous bodily harm and nine of actual bodily harm after his involvement in an acid attack this April. The attack took place in a London nightclub. Ferne gave birth to their child, daughter Sunday, on November 2 and has said she will raise the baby girl on her own.

Presenter Lorraine Kelly attempted to bring up the understandably touchy subject with the 27-year-old mum. Lorraine mentioned what a 'terrible time' it must have been for Ferne, said 'it's been awful' twice, and referred to the situation as a 'nightmare'.

The I'm A Celebrity star politely tried to avoid the topic.

"It has been a tough time, but obviously, you know, I can't dwell on that anymore," she replied to Lorraine at first, "And I'm feeling positive now and I'm just looking forward to the future. I mean, I have Sunday, things are good and being back at my mum's is lovely. You need a support when you have a baby."

Lorraine tried to press her further about how this can't have been what Ferne had planned.

"How much of your life can you plan, do you know what I mean?" Ferne said in response.

She shut down the subject by telling the TV presenter, "As I said, I just, I don't want to talk about it anymore. I can't dwell on it and I just need to look forward to the future."

In fairness to Lorraine, she quickly changed the subject to Ferne's new living situation with her mum after Ferne said she didn't want to discuss Arthur.

The former TOWIE star loves living with her mother as it allows her to concentrate more on Sunday. While her mother Gilly cooks and cleans, Ferne can focus on her little one.

Gilly also finds the situation ideal, saying that it is 'such a special thing' to see her daughter become a mum. While she wouldn't have thought of Ferne as 'overly maternal' before, Gilly says that her daughter has blossomed into a 'natural mummy'.

"She's always on my mind," Ferne said lovingly of her daughter.

The reality star also revealed the secret to her weight loss post-pregnancy. No, it's not trips to the gym - it's breastfeeding and mum's healthy dinners!

Mum's cooking really is the best!

Ferne kept positive on the ITV show, saying to Lorraine, "I feel like this is a whole new chapter." She expressed her excitement at going into the new year with her new baby by her side.

A once-off peek into the reality star's life, Ferne McCann: First Time Mum, is showing tonight at 9pm on ITVbe.
