George Clooney has recalled the moment of shock when he and wife Amal found out that they were expecting twins.
The 56-year-old, who became a father to Alexander and Ella in June, opened up about fatherhood and marriage in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
George admitted that he couldn’t believe his ears when the doctor informed him and Amal that their family was about to grow by not one, but two!
“[The doctor] goes, ‘Well, there’s one.’ And I said, ‘Great.’ And then he goes, ‘And there’s the second one.’ And I was like, ‘What?’
“We just sat there, staring at that piece of paper they give you, and I kept thinking there was a mistake.”
Life has completely changed for George, once considered Hollywood’s 'eternal bachelor'. He revealed that now, when friends call over to his home and see him changing a nappy, they laugh!
“We are unrested – we’re both unrested, and she’s more unrested than me, obviously,” he said, of new parenthood.
“But I’m a very good diaper guy, which I didn’t know I would be.”
It was pretty much love at first sight for George and Amal, when they met at a dinner party. In his latest interview, George opened up about how he proposed to the acclaimed human rights lawyer.
The Ocean’s Eleven star set the scene by cooking pasta for Amal, to the sounds of music from a playlist of his singer aunt Rosemary’s songs.
“Over champagne, after dinner, I told her there was a lighter to light the candle in the drawer, and she reached back and pulled out a ring,” he explained.
“I did all the stuff – got down on my knee, and did all the things you’re supposed to do.
“I was waiting for this song, Why Shouldn’t I? ‘Why shouldn’t I take a chance when romance passes by? / Why shouldn’t I know of love?’…And it played, and she’s like, ‘Holy sh**!’”
George joked that it took ’20 minutes of him on his knee, waiting for her to say yes’, because Amal was ‘so shocked’ and couldn’t stop staring at her ring!
The couple, of course, went on to tie the knot in August 2014. They went on to confirm their baby news in February of this year, before welcoming their son and daughter four months later.
