Chrissy Teigen brought home an all-too real aspect of IVF this week, in her typical and inimitable style.

The 31-year-old, who is known for sharing all with her social media fans, took to Twitter to discuss her remaining embryo’s ‘rent’!

Chrissy, who is married to singer John Legend, shared a screenshot of an email she received from her treatment clinic, which read: “Outstanding embryo storage balance due.”

Ever the joker, Chrissy was light about the situation as she tweeted: “Damn, how’s my embryo going to be in debt before it’s even born?”

Naturally, a follower mistook Chrissy’s candid post as some sort of informal pregnancy announcement – and the Sports Illustrated model was quick to nip the rumour in the bud.

“No…storage as in, a freezer – not my uterus. Why would I personally charge it rent? Lol!” she replied.

While Chrissy’s tweets may have been shared in a light-hearted manner, they remind us of the financial strain that IVF places on hopeful parents and parents-to-be.

Chrissy, who is mum to 14-month-old daughter Luna, recently admitted that she and John are hoping to expand their family.

The star, who experienced postnatal depression after Luna’s birth, told Marie Claire that while she was open to adoption, she ‘loved being pregnant’.

“Maybe I should be scared [after her experience with postnatal depression], but I don’t know. It couldn’t be any worse than it was – could it?” she pondered.

Chrissy opened up for the first time about her illness in March, in a candid interview with Glamour magazine.

Admitting that she ‘didn’t think it could happen to her’, the doting mum shared an important message for women all over the world: ‘postpartum does not discriminate’.

“I couldn’t control it. And that’s part of the reason why it took me so long to speak up: I felt selfish, icky, and weird saying aloud that I’m struggling. Sometimes I still do,” she said.

She went on to share advice for getting through it, telling Refinery 29: “Just when you think it’s really, really bad, it’s going to get better.

“So, hopefully, if you’re going through something tough, you can find some peace in knowing that.”

Chrissy and John, who met on the set of the video for his song Stereo in 2007, tied the knot four years ago. After a long struggle to conceive, they welcomed Luna in April 2016, with the help of IVF.
