When you’re being treated in hospital for an illness, especially over a long period of time, the surrounding four walls become your world – which is particularly tough for children.
In a bid to fight the boredom of the hospital room, staff at one US children’s hospital introduced some of their youngest patients to a virtual world where everything is possible.
Thanks to the Oculus Rift, some of the youngest patients of Mott’s Children’s Hospital were taken to the edge of the world and even up on rollercoasters - without even leaving their hospital beds.
Even when one of the kids started to feel a little woozy, they refused to take the Rift off! And as one little boy exclaims “I’m on top of the world!”, you know just how special this experience is for these little ones.
