A report released by Salford University suggests that the design of your child's classroom may play a bigger role in their learning process than initially understood.

Factors such as the size of the school and the facilities available actually played less of a role than the layout of the classroom in which they spend most of their time.

Researching the issue for over three years, the people behind the Holistic Evidence and Design project discovered that factors such as light, air quality and colour had a massive impact on children in a learning environment.

Having surveyed 153 classrooms from 27 different schools, researchers ascertained that air quality, colour and individual design were key elements when considering a child's performance in reading, writing and mathematics.

The university's report asserts concludes: "It is interesting to note that the aspects linked to the appropriate level of stimulation for leaning is curvilinear- neither chaotic, nor boring, but somewhere in the middle."
