Amy Childs has come in for a lot of abuse on social media over the past few weeks, so we’re guessing she’s feeling quite chuffed with herself today!

Followers of the former TOWIE star have thanked her for sharing her tip for dealing with cradle cap: olive oil.

The 27-year-old took to Instagram to share her advice, after noticing that four-month-old daughter Polly had the condition.

Posting a photo of a bottle of light olive oil, the reality star wrote: “Have to share this with you all…As a new mum, I started worrying, as [Polly’s cradle cap] started to look very scabby.”

After trying ‘everything’ to soothe it, she went online and asked fellow mums for advice.

Ok so girls!! Have to share this with you all... So polly has had very bad cradle cap, as a new mum I started worrying as it started to look very scabby I no that this is very common in babies, I went on every website and ask new mummies out there !! I seriously tried everything, it said try coconut oil, another story said Just leave it and it will just go !!! I then CAME across an article that said about olive oil! I was like surely this isn't going to work, So girls I literally got a "Tommie tippee" comb and combed through olive oil onto her scalp and left it for half hour , (very greasy) poor pollyAfter half hour I could see it all flake off and then kept on combing it out , it literally took 10 mins to do and now there is no sign of cradle cap!! So new mummies out there , it bloody worksHappy baby happy mummy #mummy #newmum #oliveoil #cradlecap

“I came across an article that said about [using] olive oil. I was like, surely this isn’t going to work,” she recalled.

Amy gave the remedy a go, simply coming the oil through Polly's scalp and leaving it for half-an-hour.

“After half-an-hour, I could see it all flake off and then kept on combing it out,” she wrote.

“It literally took 10 minutes to do, and now there is no sign of cradle cap.

“So, new mummies out there, it bloody works!”

A host of new mums took to the comment section to thank Amy for sharing her tip – and it’s clear that many of them have been trying unsuccessfully to treat cradle cap in their own infants.

“Good info, because my five-month-old daughter has it,” wrote one mum. Another added: “Thanks! I’ll buy some and give that a go.”

Of course, there are others who have been in on the (not so) secret for ages, and they gave their seal of approval, too.

One of the best things about sharing advice among the mum community is getting feedback, and Amy’s post is full of helpful tips for anyone looking for them.

A fellow mum warned: “Oil on skin is great, though just don’t then go into the sun. [It] can burn Baby.” A very important tip to remember!

This is one reason why we love it when celeb mums put themselves out there – it’s lovely to see mothers supporting each other in their time of need.
