Jordan Banjo opens up about baby Atreus’ sepsis & meningitis diagnosis

Jordan Banjo has opened up about his baby son’s recent health scare.

The Diversity dancer and his wife Naomi welcomed their third child, a baby boy named Atreus, into the world in April.

However, a few weeks after his birth, the family were thrown into a state of shock when Atreus suddenly took ill.

Last month, Jordan and Naomi confirmed that their son was undergoing a battle with sepsis and viral meningitis.

Meningitis is when the lining of the brain and spinal cord becomes inflamed. Oftentimes it can lead to sepsis, which causes the immune system to attack vital organs.

In an interview with MailOnline, Jordan has now chosen to open up about the terrifying experience of his baby son being hospitalised.

The 30-year-old recalled how he was in the middle of presenting his KISS radio show when Naomi called to tell him Atreus was ill and “something wasn’t right”. The mum-of-three noted that her son was making “weird little noises” and was feeling “a bit floppy”.

“She said ‘you need to get here right now’ and even then I was probably still a little bit in the moment of ‘everything is going to be fine’,” he admitted.

Jordan then went on to express how his panic rose when he arrived at the hospital and saw doctors and nurses working on his little one.

“He was completely grey, he's got cables hanging off of him, cannulas in, then they start talking about sepsis and viral meningitis and it was a really, really scary time,” the I'm A Celeb confessed.

Atreus stayed in hospital for around a week, before he was given a course of antibiotics was finally able to return home to his family.

When speaking about the worrying situation for the first time last month, Jordan’s wife Naomi admitted that Atreus’ illness had taken its toll.

“You never think it would be your baby and honestly I can’t explain how awful it is having to leave your poorly baby behind in a hospital and go home,” she wrote at the time.
