Woodmill Outdoor Activities Centre

Woodmill has been described as Southampton’s best-kept secret, and understandably so. To those who drive past it probably just looks like any other brick building, but step inside this converted former mill and it’s like walking through the wardrobe into Narnia: an unexpected tranquil haven full of wonder and surprise (and no lions or witches, thankfully). And it’s barely three miles outside the city centre.

 

The really great thing about Woodmill is the fact that it is the only place in the UK that boasts four different types of water: a placid water lake, and next to it the flowing River Itchen, which feeds into the tidal estuary, which in turn creates white water at low tide. This makes it a fantastic location for paddling in a canoe or kayak, with all abilities and adventures suited perfectly. Our Supporters have a great time and love our well-equipped facilities and friendly instructors. We even boast our own canoe shop to cater for all your paddling needs, and it’s quite possibly the friendliest one in the country. And we’ve even got things to keep you occupied on dry land, with archery and climbing amongst our other pursuits. For those after an adrenaline rush, why not try leaping through the air on the trapeze or speed down the rollers into the river (we might not be able to keep you out of the water for long!).
