About

Sulgrave Manor is a Tudor and Georgian manor house that was built and lived in by the direct ancestors of George Washington, the first President of the USA. It is a wonderful example of Tudor design brought to life through the remarkable story of an extraordinary family.

Tours by our friendly and informative guides explore the history of the house and its most famous inhabitants. Discover how Civil War, financial ruin and a shipwreck led to the Washington family seeking a new life in a new land, where their descendant would become the first President of the United States of America.

Set within a picturesque rural village about thirty miles from both Oxford and Stratford-Upon-Avon, Sulgrave Manor’s compact size, family friendly gardens and large café make it ideal for all the family.
