About
From sling-shot to missile, this museum traces the evolution of artillery and really is explosive in content. Housing Europe's widest variety of historic and modern artillery, Firepower - Royal Artillery Museum charts 600 years of artillery development both comprehensively and entertainingly. The exhibitions are peppered with personal anecdotes, hands-on displays, enormous tanks and frightening rockets. Modern and interactive, the museum boasts a multi-media presentation that atmospherically recreates the experience of artillery gunners from World War One to the Balkan conflict. Expect smoke, bright lights, loud bangs and the odd bit of ground shaking. There is much more to Firepower than the fraying uniforms and dusty medals of your average regimental museum.
NOTE:
Major re-organisation expected to last throughout 2009 means it's not possible to visit the Cold War Gallery.
