The Quays Swimming and Diving Centre

You won’t find many places to get active that are as inspirational as The Quays. One of only four High Performance Centres for diving in the UK, three of Team GB’s Olympic divers – Pete Waterfield, Chris Mears and Stacie Powell are based at the Quays.  Pete’s synchro partner, Tom Daley, also visits occasionally to train.

 

The Quays is also home to Commonwealth gold medalist, Max Brick. Olympic coach, Lindsey Fraser, heads up the diving programme from beginners through to Olympians. The Ukraine National Diving Team chose The Quays as their training venue to prepare for London 2012. And other celebrities grace the Complex too, with guests as diverse as wheelchair basketball star turned sports presenter Ade Adepitan and Soccer AM’s ‘Rocket’ filming his parody ‘Dive of the Week’ feature.

 

The Quays (which looks like a boat when viewed from above) isn’t just about diving though. There’s something for everyone here. The sparkling blue waters of our pools offer great activities for all ages and abilities, such as free swimming for pregnant women, parent and toddler swim sessions and junior swimming lessons. And away from the water, you can hit the gym, where you’ll often find supporters trying to lose a few pounds training next to athletes working towards a gold medal at an Olympic Games.
