Surprise, surprise - Kylie Jenner is finding herself up against critics once again.

The mum-of-one shared a selfie on Instagram two days ago, showing herself in a waist trainer in front of the mirror.

The 20-year-old acknowledged in the caption that the post was an ad for Waist Gang Society. However, a number of people criticised her for donning the accessory less than two months after giving birth.

People on social media found themselves concerned about whether using a waist trainer so soon was healthy. "It's actually called crushing your stomach," one person commented on the Insta post.

As well, a number of new mums have spoken out recently against the pressure put on women to get back to their pre-baby weight, and the post could be seen as adding to this trend.

Us Weekly brought in Texas-based OBGYN Dr Cynthia Robbins for her opinion on waist trainers for women who are post-partum.

"A waist trainer is a very tight garment that can be clinched tighter and tighter to pull in the floating rib and anatomically compress," Dr Robbins told Us, and she recommended that the new mum ditch the waist trainer.

"This is worn higher, does not stabilise the pelvis and I feel puts harmful compression to the abdomen. It has a temporary result that is no different than anything too tight around skin."

However, we should consider the notion that since this is an ad, Kylie possibly does not wear these waist trainers regularly. As well, this could be a pre-baby pic that Kylie saved to put up for when she needed to advertise the product.

We should also take into account that this is yet another way for people to mummy-shame Kylie, who has faced criticism about nearly every aspect of her parenting since giving birth to little Stormi.
