With music, film and literature influencing society immeasurably for decades, there was bound to come a time when social media and its infinite number of accompanying buzzwords began infiltrating our conscious, right?

Proving that society's reliance on social media has influenced our decision-making process in more ways than we may have initially anticipated, a recent poll of baby names, compiled by the BabyCentre, indicated that we may use popular photo-sharing app, Instagram, for more than communicating with friends and followers.

The recent research suggests that a new generation of parents have taken inspiration from the app's filters when choosing a name for their new arrival.

According to the study, the name Lux, which is a popular photo-editing tool, is up 75% on the boys' chart while also featuring on the girls' list.

Further to this, the name Ludwig - also a photo filter- has jumped 42% in popularity while Amaro has seen a surge of 26% and Kelvin has experienced a 4% increase.

However, it's not only the parents of baby boys who have turned to Instagram for inspiration, with the proud parents of little girls also appearing to use the app for help in the decision-making process.

According to the same research, filter name Juno has seen a 30% increase in popularity while Valencia has jumped 26% and Willow has seen a 13% increase,

Have you taken an equally unique approach to your choice of baby name?
