An attempt to abduct a 12-year-old schoolgirl has led to a manhunt in the Blackpool area.

The girl was walking home around 6pm yesterday when a small van reportedly drove slowly past her before pulling over and shouting at her in the Bispham Road area.

According to the Blackpool Gazette, two men sat inside the silver vehicle as they shouted at a third man on the street to “get her in the van”.

Luckily, the young girl escaped the men and was close enough to make it home and alert her parents.

Police in the area have been looking for the men or their vehicle in order to help with the investigation but are also asking anyone with information to call them on 101.

A spokesperson for the Lancashire Police said in a statement:

"The incident took place at around 5.55pm on Kylemore Avenue.

"Two men in a small silver van, possibly in their early 20's, drove up to the 12-year-old girl and shouted at her.

"If anyone witnessed this incident they should contact police."
