There is nothing worse than being cold, especially in your own home; and one of the reasons why we work so hard at our jobs is so we can keep our families nice and warm.

However, with the high cost of heating bills, sometimes a cardigan or a nice pair of fluffy socks is a better option when one is feeling a tad chilly.

As parents, especially as the kids get older, we tend to be a little more protective of the heating system in our homes – because someone needs to think of the cost!

If your kids are feeling a little bit ‘switch happy’ at the moment, and you want to send a message about respecting the heating system, then you may want to follow Autumn Brandon’s lead.

The US mother took to Facebook this week to give an insight into how she rules the roost at home – and it’s inspired.

She posted a photo of her home heating system, which bore a note reading: “Unless you answer YES to all of these…DO NOT TURN ON HEAT!!!”

Her questions are:

- “Are you wearing a hoodie, pants, socks?”

- “Is it November?”

- “Do you pay the gas bill?”

OK, so maybe the last one is a little strict, but we like her style!

Would you follow suit? Or do you already have a similar setup in your home?
